'Lureway' is symphonic metal group from Lithuanie that has already released an EP in 2016 and recorded their first studio album 'Unchained and Soaring' featuring the entire EP with 5 new tracks (plus an acoustic cover of 'Ode to Infinity'). The band is conducted by the mezzo-soprano 'Jevgenija Korkina' and the ensemble can be reminiscent of formations like 'Coronatus' (see their latest album here) or 'Ain' (see their latest album here) or 'Dark Sarah' (see their latest album here) and of course Jevgenija's vocals have similarities with that of 'Tarja' (new album to come end of August 2019). Overall, the compositions are melodic in a classical symphonic metal style and this from the first titles 'Aflame', 'Ode to Infinity' and 'Savior' which are all three energetic and very accessible with very effective choruses. With 'In Bed With the Beast', the aggressive tempo of guitar riffs is reminiscent of certain compositions by 'Christopher Johnson' (see the latest 'Therion' album here) and 'Unattainable Fortress' highlights keyboards with classical organ sounds and offers a welcome break in the middle of the title with a pure piano/voice part. The sweetness is also appropriate with the ballad 'Feeling of Peace' where Jevgenija delivers us a magnificent performance. The end of the album offers us, after a quiet introduction, an impetuous 'Imperium And Voluntas', then the two melodic mid-tempo 'Dryads' and 'Hope' and the conclusion of the album takes us to a very nice version acoustic of 'Ode to Infinity' where the beautiful singer captivates us one last time. In summary, even if 'Lureaway' do not necessarily stand out from the big names of the genre, they offer us an album filled with good surprises and 'Unchained and Soaring' will certainly fill all lovers and fans of symphonic metal with a lyrical female singer...
