'Tommy Karevik' is busy at the moment with his 2 projects because after the release in early 2018 of the album 'The Shadow Theory' with 'Kamelot' (see here), here’s 'Tiara', the 5th album of 'Seventh Wonder' which was released at the end of 2018. The fans certainly looked forward to this album, especially since the last album 'The Great Escape' was from 2010 had scored the spirits in the world of progressive metal with its eponymous title of thirty minutes. 'Tiara' is a continuation of the style that we knew, namely between rock and progressive metal with accessible melodic lines that can fit fairly easily into each composition. For example, after the short instrumental introduction 'The Arrival', 'The Every Ones' has a very effective chorus and a single instrumental part just before the final rehearsal that makes it a fairly conventional title. The compositions are quite varied and we go from an energetic 'Dream Machines' to the very melodic 'Against the Grain' rather far from the metal and then, 'The Truth' is a ballad that allows to hear the beautiful voice of 'Jenny Karevik' whois the sister of Tommy. Of course we must mention the 3 central compositions 'Farewell' which show an epic face approaching a progressive more symphonic as can be done recently 'Dream Theater' and whose atmosphere is much quieter with first of all the very melodic 'Tiara's Song', then the ballad 'Goodnight' which can recall some melodic lines of 'Queen' and finally the second ballad even more melancholy 'Beyond Today' where 'Tommy Karevik' shows that he also knows how to transmit beautiful emotions and whose song reminds me of 'Georg Neuhauser', the singer of 'Serenity' (see their latest album here). In summary, although 'Seventh Wonder' is tagged progressive metal, it would be reductive to limit them only to that because, 'Tiara' is an album mixing beautifully a set of styles ranging from symphonic rock to progressive metal and which, moreover, has very accessible melodies, which should destine it to a relatively large audience...
