After the very good 'If You Think I'm Crazy!' In 2017 (see here), keyboardist of 'Uriah Heep' (see their latest album here) 'Phil Lanzon', who has a curriculum vitae long as a month of sundays, released a new album '48 Seconds'. This last opus offers a greater number of guests than the first with for example 'John Mitchell' (in other 'Lonely Robot' - see here - 'Arena' - see here and 'Kino' - see here). As he had already done, he called on the 'London Telefilmonic Orchestra' which bring to the whole rich orchestral arrangements and the listener is embarked on melodic compositions between pop and rock: the orchestral instrumental introduction recalls symphony rock artists of the 70s like 'Alan Parsons' or 'Jeff Lynne', then in the stride 'In The Rain' continues in this classic and accessible melodic rock style. Follows 'Forty Line' which mixes different styles between pop and jazz, then 'Rock N Roll Children' makes us discover the little news 'Miriam Gray' which illuminates the title with a magnificent vocal performance and the melodic lines bring us back, one more time to the 70s and reminds me of the 'Deep Purple' cover of 'Hush' which was a title written by 'Joe South'. The suite continues in this accessible and varied atmosphere with melodies that immediately touch you and that seem so familiar to you as 'Road to London' where 'Phil Lanzon' takes us in a very beautiful folk ballad or as 'You Can Make A Living' , very energetic in the manner of what could do the 'Who' or 'Face to Face' with a beautiful vocal duo Phil/Miriam. And finally, the 9 minutes of '48 Seconds' finish the album in the most beautiful way with a sumptuous composition and an end full of emotion where the choir gives you the goose bumps. In short, as you will understand, 'Phil Lanzon' offers us a wonderful album accessible and varied that can be recommended to all those who love the great symphonic rock artists of the 70s as' Alan Parsons' because ' 48 seconds' is largely at the same level as a 'The Turn Of A Friendly Card' with in addition an irreproachable and modern production... |
