After 'Family Tree' in 2018, we find the powerful and rocky voice of 'Chris Robertson' with his formation 'Black Stone Cherry' in a new album released at the end of October. This seventh opus 'The Human Condition' from the Americans continues to take us to lands between muscular rock and hard-rock and we find catchy hymns which melodies immediately come to your mind.
And it starts strong with 'Ringin' In My Head', melodic and efficient at will with a well hardened rhythm, in short, nothing is missing until the small pleasurable guitar solo, then 'Again' follows suit with a tempo that will knock your head off by dint of headbanging, 'Push Down & Turn' not being outdone with remarkable firepower and some rabid electric guitar notes. Follows 'When Angels Learn To Fly' which, even if it remains catchy, is the first well placed break and we will find another one five tracks later with the beautiful ballad 'If My Heart Had Win' and one other finally with the last track of the album, the super melodic 'Keep On Keepin', then we find with compositions like 'Live This Way', 'The Chain', 'Ride' or even 'Some Stories' all as effective as the others and I will also mention the melodic jewel 'In Love With The Pain' which can only make you want to clap your hands in rhythm and that we would like the chorus to never stop. Also note a cover slightly more muscular than the original of 'Don't Bring Me Down' d '' Electric Light Orchestra'.
In summary, we are now used to each album release, the Americans of 'Black Stone Cherry' continue to offer us direct and effective compositions and this is still true with 'Human Condition' which raises the bar very high by bringing even more power which should appeal to an audience loving a powerful hard-rock whose melodic lines are immediately assimilable and it is still an album serving as an anti-depressant in the current period... | |
