'Steve Hackett' never stops revisiting 'Genesis' for our greatest happiness, and after 'Genesis Revisited Band and Orchestra – Live''Genesis Revisited Band and Orchestra – Live' in 2019, the remastered album of the concert at the Royal Albert Hall from 2013 released in 2020 and 'Selling England by The Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith' dating also from 2020, he offers us the concert given by 'Genesis' in 1976 and 1977 in Paris and which was the subject, at the time, of the double vinyl 'Seconds Out'. For the occasion, it's the Manchester concert on September 24, 2021, from the 'Genesis Revisited 2021 - Seconds Out + More' tour which was recorded and filmed and which has been released in early September. The album is split into two parts, firstly compositions from Steve's albums, 'Clocks' and 'Every Day' from 1979's 'Spectral Morning', 'Surrender of Silence' and 'The Devils Cathedral' (see video here) from his latest album 'Surrender of Silence' and the magnificent 'Shadow of the Hierophant' from the 1975 album 'Voyage of the Acolyte' which we now have usual, is sung by 'Amanda Lehmann'. The sequel is of course devoted to the complete cover of 'Seconds Out' with the essential titles of 'Genesis' from the first half of the 70s and we are re-embarked on this fantastic journey to the sounds of the mythical 'The Carpet Crawlers', 'Aferglow ', 'Firth of Fifth', 'The Cinema Show', 'Dance on a volcano' or even 'Los Endos' (If you want more details on each title played, you can refer to the very nice column of 'David Edwards' from the blog 'The Progressive Aspect' here). Note that 'Steve Hackett' continues, at 72, to make impressive tours and that 2023 is devoted to the album 'Foxtrot' of 'Genesis' which will be 50 years old. In short, with 'Steve Hackett', there is something to fill your ears with, whether with the covers of 'Genesis' or whether with his solo career and 'Genesis Revisited Live: Seconds Out & More' is directly added to this list of must-have live albums for any progressive rock fan through the ages... | |
