'Oak' is a Norwegian group that releases a new album 'False Memory Archive' (see their album 'Lighthouse' here) and for the occasion, they invited their compatriot of the group 'Airbag', 'Bjorn Riis' (see the latest album here). On the style side, they are part of a progressive atmospheric wave with beautiful melodic lines that make their compositions accessible and we can not help but refer to groups like 'Kingcrow' (see here), 'The Paradox Twin' (see here) or 'Sunchild' (see here) to mention only bands that I recently reviewed. So we navigate in a peaceful universe where the warm and deep voice of 'Simen Valldal Johannessen' brings a melancholy side as in the magnificent 'Intermezzo' and 'The Lights' which make only one title and where 'Debussy' invites itself in the introduction with the famous 'Clair de Lune' and which let slowly roll out the 10 minutes in the form of two successive crescendos that leave room for a calm and peaceful end. In the shelf of my favourite songs of this album, I could add, 'Lost Causes' and its masterly final, 'Transparent Eyes' more classic but with a very accessible melody and finally the last title 'Psalm 51' filled with a palpable emotion . In summary, this 2nd Norwegian album of 'Oak' is a very good surprise 2018 and if you like a progressive mixing melancholy and serenity, put yourself in a quiet place and enjoy quietly this beautiful 'False Memory Archive'...
