'Nervosa' is an English formation which was created in the 2000s but which did not release many albums, a few EPs and a very short opus in 2012 'The Cube Sessions' whose video above presents 3 titles. 2020 sees the release of a second album 'Wasteland', also quite short in a style reminiscent of progressive rock bands like 'Mostly Autumn', 'Comedy of Errors', 'Chasing The Monsoon' or even 'Nine Skies' with influences in the progressive rock from the 70s with 'Pink Floyd' in the lead.

'Chevron' opens the album with a light composition which, thanks to accessible melodic lines, is immediately tamed, the bass offering a beautiful sound depth, then the suite 'The Wasteland' begins with a short calm and quiet part in the 'Floyds' movement with an aerial guitar, the second part emphasizing the vocals of 'Jon Winter' and offering remarkable rhythmic breaks and admirable changes of intensity. With 'Prelude', the sweetness is at the rendezvous in the first part with the singing of 'Jon Winter' in the same register and atmosphere as 'Einar Solberg' of 'Leprous', the tone gradually hardening to become powerful and fall back at the end of the title. Follows 'Countrycore' which highlights the vaporous vocals of the keyboardist 'Bethany Wade' which can recall the intonations of the ex-singer of 'Mostly Autumn' 'Heather Findlay' in a melodious and filled of poetry style, then, it is with the long development of 8 minutes 'Circle of Friends' that the album ends in an atmosphere reminiscent of 'Barclay James Harvest' and which takes us on a beautiful peaceful and serene journey at the beginning that gradually builds up for a magnificent finale in which 'Bethany Wade' also shows that she has talents as a saxophonist.

In summary, the English of 'Nervosa' are releasing a quality progressive rock album, but to my taste a bit short (we want more) and 'Wasteland' should appeal to an audience who loves a quiet and sensual progressive to enjoy quietly with headphones...
