After a first album in 2017 (see here), the Italians of 'Cellar Noise' come back with a 2nd studio recording 'Nautilus'. Based on the theme of people who suffer from mental illnesses and try to protect themselves from everyday life, they have taken the image of the nautilus that goes into its shell to better defend itself.
About the music, they have evolved compared to the last album and their style is quite difficult to define because they mix pop, rock and metal with modern progressive constructions. 'Creator' that starts the album mixes powerful parts and others very quiet with fairly frequent tempo breaks that can recall groups like 'Opeth', (who have also released a new album - soon to be coming soon). 'Our Last Dance' begins in a muffled atmosphere then takes scale and accelerates the pace in the middle of the title to decrease to finish as it has begun, the atmosphere being quite heavy throughout the title. As for 'Nautilus', it is a contrasting composition between the theme of depression and the more enthusiastic melodic lines and 'Under My Command' is a magnificent ballad with a beautiful and gentle central instrumental part that intensifies and then falls back in some synthesizer notes. The following scrolls 'Leeches' which comes back to a sought after progressive metal which reminds me of some compositions of 'Porcupine Tree', a new ballad 'Her' with the participation of the singer 'Laura Meade' which brings an air side to this title and a very nice final guitar solo, then, with its 12 minutes, 'Omega' embarks us in a multi-faceted composition that beautifully alternates fast and powerful parts and other very serene in restraint. The album ends with the instrumental short 'Relics' not necessarily essential.

In summary, the Italians of 'Cellar Noise' explore new musical paths in a very beautiful way with the key to a quality album that requires several listenings to be well soak up and 'Nautilus' will undoubtedly be appreciated by a public loving a rich and sought after progressive music with contrasts between power and serenity...
