At the same time as the release of the album 'Timo Tolkki' (see here), and after his first album with the same 'Timo Tolkki' in 2015 (see here), 'Caterina Nix' released a new studio recording, 'Furyborn', and called for the occasion a new artist, in the person of the Chilean compatriot 'Nasson', the other musicians being also new embedded in the project 'Chaos Magic'. She thus offers us 11 compositions in a powerful symphonic metal with a certain modernity in the arrangements showing here and there some strands of electronics which is not without reminding the last 'Within Temptation' (see here). In addition, she has appealed, to expand the vocal section, to artists of the metal scene with the ex singer of 'Sirenia', 'Ailyn Gimenez' (see their latest album here), singer 'Tom Englund' of 'Evergrey' and the well-known 'Ronnie Romero' of 'Lords of the Black' and who was recalled by 'Ritchie Blackmore' for the return of 'Rainbow' (see here). The whole mixes in a good balance of powerful and energetic titles like 'You Will Breathe Again' and its catchy rhythm, the heavy mid-tempo 'Furyborn', 'Like Never Before' which can recall certain rhythms of 'Delain' or even the classic but very effective 'Throw Me to the Wolves' and 'I'm Your Cancer' that should move a public in live, and titles that bring aeration in all this power as the beautiful balad 'Beware of Silent Waters' or the melodic 'Bravely Beautiful' or the magnificent acoustic 'I'd Give It All' or 'My Afflication' and its slow tempo. In short, with 'Furyborn', 'Caterina Nix' continues its merry way with a new album offering all the qualities to be well received by a public adept of accessible symphonic metal... | |
