After their two very good last albums 'First Light' from 2017 which was the soft side in acoustics and 'Suite 226' from 2020, 'Serious Black' returns with a new studio recording 'Vengeance Is Mine' which continues to give us good power metal and this latest baby is particularly varied and includes a good number of catchy and effective compositions which should certainly appear during the next concerts. With a new singer 'Nikola Mijic' who replaces 'Urban Breed', from the start, we put an explosive missile between our ears with a memorable first chorus and sharp guitar riffs (see the video above), then , 'Out of the Ashes' (see video ici) continues in this direction with a new heavy melodic hit. The hymns then follow one another and to name a few titles, the 'Fallen Hero', 'Senso Della Vita', 'Tonight I'm Ready to Fight', 'Soldiers Of Eternal Light' or even 'Queen Of Lies' with its memorable chorus reveal exceptional firepower. And when the tempo is meant to be slower, we are conquered by quieter compositions like the magnificent power ballad 'Ray of Light' and 'The Story' (see the video here) which alternates calm and powerful parts, and which has this addictive melody that the public should take up heart in concert. In short, with this latest album 'Vengeance Is Mine', 'Serious Black' continues to distill good power metal with melodic lines that we immediately appropriate which should now raise them to the same level as the tenors of the genre... | |
