We are now used to it since 2018 with the album 'Sign Of The Dragonhead', 'Elina Siirala' took her place in the line up of 'Leaves' Eyes' replacing 'Liv Kristine' who continued her solo path in a completely different style, his latest album 'River of Diamonds'. After the very good 'The Last Viking' dating from 2020, it's been therefore four years since the band of 'Alexandre Krull' had released an album album (just a recording of the orchestral compositions from the documentary 'Viking Spirit') and this is therefore done with this latest opus 'Myths of Fate' released on March 22 2024. So, what's new in the land of symphonic metal from the vikings of 'Leaves' Eyes'?

No need to prolong the suspense, 'Leaves' Eyes' continues to make 'Leaves' Eyes' and we find this symphonic metal with the clean singing/growls duo characteristic of this formation with, of course, all these evocations Celtic and, this time, these are the legends of Nordic mythology and Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages which are highlighted. Let's go with a 'Forged by Fire' 100% 'Leaves' Eyes' which takes us into grandiose orchestrations, the firepower of the guitars still being essential and the vocal duo 'Elina Siirala'/'Alexandre Krull' still being very well balanced, the growls and the clean vocals being well shared between the two artists (see the video above). Follows the well-paced single 'Realm of Dark Waves' with a catchy melody that we immediately get to grips with, the calm section in the second part bringing a welcome break (see the video here), then, the less hit name than 'Who Wants to Live Forever' which adds a catchy melodic jewel which can recall certain atmospheres of 'Tarja', especially since Elina Siirala' , in certain places, comes close to the Finnish soprano, showing that she has become an essential singer of symphonic metal (see the video here). Follows the mid-tempo 'Hammer of the Gods' which delivers a powerful new composition bringing a kind of quiet strength, and in this track, the clean vocals/growls contrast is at its peak, then we go for 'In Eternity', composed by 'Elina Siirala', which alternates more moderate verses and a chorus to be repeated in chorus in concerts while keeping a well-paced side (see the video here ) and 'Fear the Serpent' continues in this symphonic atmosphere with a new mid-tempo which offers a new very catchy chorus. The ballad break is brought by the magnificent 'Goddess Of The Night' in which 'Elina Siirala', accompanied by the violin of 'Léa-Sophie Fischer' from Eluveitie', shows an endearing melancholy side, then, 'Sons of Triglav' is the typical rhythmic and catchy symphonic metal song of 'Leaves' Eyes', 'Alexandre Krull' coming to chant the title alternating with the vocals of Elina Siirala'. With 'Elder Spirit', the more moderate tempo allows the development of more restrained sections and a more theatrical side emanates from this title, brought about by the alternation of clean vocals and growls, the guitar solo being remarkable, then, the album ends with 'Einherjar' which is also very catchy and which is also very catchy and which still benefits from a unifying chorus, then, 'Sail With The Dead' closes this beautiful album by offering us beautiful vocal harmonies on a final powerful mid-tempo and rhythmic blending perfectly into this very beautiful album.

In summary, 'Alexandre Krull', after twenty years now, continues to lead his boat 'Leaves' Eyes' masterfully by offering us a 9th album in line with previous productions with still this research of catchy melody that we immediately appropriate and 'Myths of Fate', beyond the fans who will undoubtedly be seduced by this new opus, is recommended to all metal lovers, whether symphonic, power or melodic...
