The Finns of 'Battle Beast' continue to offer us studio recordings at the frequency of an album every two years because, after 'Bringer Of Pain' in 2017 and 'No More Hollywood Endings' in 2019, here is their successor, 'Circus of Doom'. No surprise, we find this original mix of different styles that they are beginning to master completely, ranging from symphonic metal to power metal, passing through hard rock or melodic rock. From the start, with the eponymous title of the album, we are welcomed with a catchy and memorable melody with grandiose vocal arrangements, 'Noora Louhimo' continuing to offer us a powerful and expressive song, then, the energetic 'Wings of Light' (see video above) continues in a 'Nightwish' atmosphere with a new memorable chorus and 'Master of Illusion' is the third hit in a row which has been the subject of a single and a video you can see here. In the same style, we can quote the catchy 'Eye of the Storm' (see the video here), the tubesque 'Freedom' or the addictive 'Armageddon' with new catchy melodies. We will nevertheless regret quieter moments to break the frantic rhythm of the album a little because the only compositions which offer ventilation to the whole, 'Where Angels Fear to Fly' (see the video here), 'Russian Roulette' and 'The Road To Avalon' move away from metal by borrowing from 80s disco while keeping a certain power. In summary, the Finns of 'Battle Beast' remain faithful to a direct and effective style on first listen and 'Circus of Doom' is still a suite of hymns and energetic hits which are to be consumed without moderation and which should appeal to a large public loving a melodic heavy style with influences inherited from the eighties...
