With this new album 'Seminole' from the Italians of 'Edge Of Forever', we already have one of the best of melodic hard rock for the year 2022: after 'Native Soul' released at the end of 2019, we would have to invent a "copy/paste more" because, everything what I wrote in my previous column can be applied to this new cake but adding a few more superlatives. Of course, with 'Alessandro Del Vecchio' at the helm, no surprise, everything is done to offer us a quality album: the lineup is now stabilized with the outstanding guitarist 'Aldo Lonobile' and his fabulous guitar solos, a rhythm section made up of 'Nik Mazzucconi' on bass and 'Marco di Salvia' on drums which ensure a huge sound throughout the album, Alessandro delighting us with still remarkable vocal performances and framing the whole with keyboards as luminous as ever.
In order not to go from title to title, I will mention the compositions that give me this irresistible desire to play them on a loop: first of all, with the opener 'Get Up Your Feet Again' (see video below above), everything is there to get you in shape all day long: a huge bass, a rhythm to make a stadium headbang, a completely addictive first chorus, Mister Aldo's magical solo and Alessandro's superb vocals. Then, 'Another Salvation' is also a power hit with all the qualities mentioned above with a new memorable chorus, then, 'Breath of Life' is a power ballad model with an impressive bass and magnificent vocal arrangements and the 8 minutes of 'Wrong Dimension' which takes us on a hard rock saga with oriental sounds and a few touches of progressive at the level of a 'Kashmir' which was taken over by 'Sons of Apollo' in the magnificent live 'Live With The Plovdiv Psychotic Symphony'. And, as we are talking about progressive, how can we miss the last title 'Seminole' (see the video here) which is made up of four parts and which is the kind of compositions that allows the most to highlight the multi-faceted writing talent of Alessandro Del Vecchio' : " I tell my story through the lens of a Seminole warrior and how and how from a defeat you can still come out stronger and even more resilient, only if you want to. "
In summary, as you will have understood, this new album by the Italians of 'Edge Of Forever' is much more than a series of melodic hard rock hits and shows that in addition to being an outstanding melodist peer, 'Alessandro Del Vecchio' is a creator of varied sound universes and that he has this talent to find and highlight the artists who accompany him, which makes 'Seminole' a very good surprise at the start of 2022. and should reach an audience that loves powerful hard rock with progressive pranks... | |
