'The Progressive Souls Collective' is a new super group created by guitarist 'Florian Zepf' who brought together international progressive metal artists with ex drummer 'Angra', 'Aquiles Priester' , bassist 'Conner Green' from 'Haken', singer 'Vladimir Lalic' from 'Organized Chaos', the international percussionist who has performed with the greatest of this world 'Luis Conte', the ex 'Dream Theater', 'Kevin Moore' and with a great guest as guest, 'Dream Theater' keyboardist, 'Derek Sherinian' who recorded all the keyboard parts of the album (review soon for his new album).
'Metature' begins the album with a heavy and powerful sound that can recall the tones of 'Pink-Floyd' of the 90s with tracks like 'Sorrow' and that increases further thereafter, then the short 'Comfortable Darkness' brings an atmospheric side with beautiful vocal harmonies and 'Killing True Beliefs' is much more energetic with a much more progressive construction, the tempo changes being frequent which highlights an original rhythm section of' Aquiles Priester 'which shows the full extent of his talent. With 'Fractional Emotion', we are in a progressive metal style close to another great band, 'Sons of Apollo' with a succession of breaks while keeping the same melodic theme throughout the title, then 'A Formula for Happiness' decreases the tempo in a rather heavy atmosphere which alternates in a balanced way the sung passages and instrumental parts in which the different solos are remarkable, and after the short 'Inner Circle' no necessarily essential, 'You and Me Alone', calmer, moves away from progressive metal with a more classic melody, the female vocals reminiscent of progressive rock formations like 'tRKproject' or 'Fleesh' or 'Mostly Autumn'. 'Hurt' then returns to powerful, heavy progressive metal before the album's flagship track, 'Destiny Inc.', nearly 16 minutes long, which is made up of a set of progressive sections, with multiple tempo changes, melodic lines and intensity, which certainly makes it the densest track on the album and which requires a few lisntenings to get into it, then, the short melodic break 'Mind Tresures' with 'Vladimir Lalic' in a much quieter register prepares the last track 'With Others' more rock than metal, which closes the album with a more classic construction and with a beautiful melody that easily enters into your head.
In summary, with this new project 'The Progressive Souls Collective', 'Florian Zepf', with the contribution of seasoned artists, offers us a quality album mixing accessible titles and others requiring several listening, in a style ranging from rock to metal which intends 'Sonic Birth' for a progressive audience who like to listen in the same album to compositions quite far from each other... | |
