After 'The Great War' dating from 2019 and the live 'The Great Show (The Great Tour Live In Prague, 2020)' which followed in 2021, the Swedes of 'Sabaton' are doing it again with a new album 'The War to End All Wars', vast program which was announced by the group as usual, with great fanfare and with the presentation of the album at the Royal Museum of the Army and Military History in Brussels on November 22, 2021. As for the theme, it does not change so much since we are still in the First World War with these history enthusiasts who continue to tell us all the little stories about this war. So, what's new on this latest album. Not much will say some, but it's good from time to time to get between the ears of hymns with refrains that we all want to scream in chorus and this latest opus from the Swedes is obviously one of them completed. It's not easy to find a title from this album that doesn't make you want to sing the chorus and, from the start, we follow 'Sormtroopers' (see video above), 'Dreadnought', 'The Unkillable Soldier' (see video here) and 'Soldier Of Heaven' which distill addictive melodies and the sequel is not to be outdone with 'Race To The Sea' (see the video here), 'The Valley of Death' (see video here) or even 'Christmas Truce' (see the video here), the album ending with the last hymn 'Versailles'. In short, in these troubled times with this fear of a new world conflict, the Swedes of 'Sabaton' remind us of our duty to remember (like their compatriots from 'Knight Area' in another style) and continue to give us catchy anthems which should continue to satisfy the fans and an entire public who love direct and effective heavy metal... | |
