'D'Ercole' is a project led by singer 'Phil Vincent' and his cousins, bassist 'Damian D'Ercole' and drummer 'BF D'Ercole' joined by guitarists 'Vince O'Regan' ('Escape') and 'Peter Cox' ('Forest Field') on the latest album 'Quantum 8' released in March 2022. They continue to offer us a nice variety of styles ranging from muscular melodic hard rock to the harmonious AOR. In the first genre, the album is well supplied with well-muscled guitar riffs: witness the introduction 'Duel' à la 'Van Halen', the energetic 'Bringer of Pain' reminiscent of 'You Really Got Me' from 'The Kinks' which would have had a power cure, the classic but so effective 'Point of View' taking us back to the early 70s with its introduction modeled on 'Junior's Wailing' from 'Status Quo', 'Standing on the Edge' which deploys big sound on which we have a mad desire to headbang or even the stirring 'Hands Of Time' with its catchy rhythm. And when the sound is more moderate, we are won over by moderate melodic compositions with 'This Heart of Stone' which slowly gaining momentum after a 'Beatles' introduction, the beautiful ballad 'We've Got A Long Way To Go', the hopping 'Your Lies', 'Swimming Against The Tide' in a pop style weighed down by intense guitar riffs or even the mid-tempo 'Vanilla Sky' which remarkably concludes the album. In short, with 'Quantum 8', 'Phil Vincent' with his partners from the 'D'Ercole' project adds a new album to the already long list of releases that we no longer count, and which should appeal to a large audience who love to alternate more or less energetic rock and hard rock atmospheres bringing us back to the 70s/80s... | |
