Four years after 'Quatasis' which was well received in the symphonic metal world, the Brazilians of 'Lyria' released a second studio album 'Immersion' thanks to a crowdfunding campaign. Founded by singer and songwriter 'Aline Happ', they evolve in a style whose melodic lines are quite close to known bands like 'Within Temptation' or ‘Imperia (see here) or others less unknown like 'Blood Red Soul' (see here) or 'Sleeping Romance' (see here) can do. From the beginning, 'Follow the Music' is a powerful and epic title accessible thanks to its easy-to-memorize chorus, then, 'Get What You Want' continues in this direction with some extreme voices reminiscent of some tracks of 'Leave's Eyes' and with 'Let Me Be Me', the rhythm slows down for a powerful mid-tempo and a still melodic chorus. The sequel is the image of this beginning with powerful and melodic compositions interspersed with a power ballad 'Last Forever' and the album ends with the beautiful semi-acoustic ballad 'Run to You'. In summary, even if they have not succeded yet to forge their own style while they probably have the capacity, 'Lyria' released a quality album which should please all fans of the groups mentioned above and, thanks to accessible compositions, 'Immersion’ is also a good way to discover symphonic metal for all those who do not know this style of music... | |
