It is still a project set up by 'Frontiers' which is in the spotlight with the super group 'Skills' composed of the singer 'Renan Zonta' ('Brother Against Brother', 'Electric Mob'), guitarist 'Brad Gillis' ('Night Ranger'), bassist 'Billy Sheehan' ('Octavision', 'Sons Of Apollo', 'Mr. Big) and drummer 'David Huff' ('Giant'), without forgetting of course the Swiss army knife of the label, the Italian 'Alessandro Del Vecchio' who comes to support the quartet on keyboards and choirs. Given the pedigree of each artist, it's no surprise that we find good melodic hard rock, the album comprising mainly AOR coming straight from the 80s with titles like 'Writings on the Wall', 'Show Me The Way', 'Just When I Needed You', 'Stop The World' (see the video above), 'Hearts Of Stone' or even 'Don't Break My Heart'. The two opening titles, 'Escape Machine' and the up-tempo 'Blame It On The Night' are slightly more muscular with catchy melodic lines and we cannot miss the two quieter compositions that are 'Losing The Track' and 'Just When I Needed You' (see video here) which are to be added to the best hard rock ballads.
In summary, this new project 'Skills', mounted by 'Frontiers', takes us back a few decades by offering us good melodic hard rock performed by artists who ensure from the first to the last title and who take us a very pleasant moment listening to these effective and catchy melodic lines... | |
