'Out of Sight' is the second Dutch album of 'Hangover Paradise' which they released at the end of 2017 and which appeared only few weeks ago in Spotify. Their style is largely inspired by the great formations of progressive and neo-progressive and the closest band that comes to my mind while listening to the first compositions is 'Arena' (see their latest album here) but we could also quote 'Saga' in 'Not Worried' for example or ‘Pink-Floyd’ in the last title ‘Flowers in the Rain’. From the start, with 'Who do you think you are', we are immersed in a very melodic song with the song of 'Henk Brugge' which makes me think a little about the interpretation of 'Paul Manzi' ('Arena') but in less theatrical and with beautiful instrumental passages with the trio 'Peter Zwerus' and 'Henk Zwerus' on keyboards and 'Richard Saimima' on guitar. All the compositions are accessible from the first listening thanks especially to very beautiful melodic lines but each one has its own personality which makes that this album is varied and also balanced between the parts sung and instrumental. In summary, 'Hangover Paradise' show that with this 2nd album, they rise up, without any doubt, at the level of the major progressive formations and, for me, this 'Out of Sight' joins the discotheque ideal for any amateur of progressive music... | |
