The news of the return of 'Stream Of Passion' must have made all the fans of the group (of which I am one) happy who followed them for around ten years until 2016, the year of their separation, which is sold by the very beautiful live 'Memento'. With exactly the same line up as in 2016, the 'Marcela Bovio' band returns with an EP which contains five new tracks and which revives the adventure started in the early 2000s. So is this return a winning return? The answer is definitely: YES!! We find all the atmospheres specific to the Dutchman with five compositions which could each have been the subject of a single in previous albums with melodies which are embedded directly in the head and which show this immense pleasure of finding oneself and of start sharing with the public (who hasn't forgotten them since they had a full house for the first concerts).
'The Hunter' (see the video above) opens the EP and, after the energetic introduction, we are once again under the spell of the singing of 'Marcela Bovio' and this style so characteristic of ' Stream Of Passion' with these changes in intensity bringing that little extra progressive which has made it their trademark in the world of symphonic metal. 'Tonight' follows in a slower tempo but in the same atmosphere with a new chorus that we want to sing along with Marcella and the second part of the title shows all the vocal talent of the Mexican in this striking contrast between this magnificent calm section which precedes the energetic reprise, the end of the title falling again into a very refined piano/voice duet. With 'Chasing A Ghost', the signature 'Stream Of Passion' is still there and, this time, Marcella sings in Spanish and English (for my part, I find that it is in her native language that she conveys the more emotion). This title has very beautiful melodic lines with a chorus that gives me goosebumps and the guitar solo is particularly remarkable. Follows 'The End Is The Beginning' (see the video here) whose title corresponds well to this revival of the group and it is a melancholic mid-tempo composition with a beautiful cello accompaniment and, in this style , 'Marcela Bovio' is particularly moving with modulations in the voice that she masters perfectly. And to end this short EP, the magnificent ballad 'The Promise' is a delicious moment with a first part slowly rising to a crescendo (Marcela's vocal work is still striking) which explodes with the electric instruments, hurting my flesh again chicken on Marcela's vocals): simply divine!!
In summary, no need for a long column to tell you that 'Stream of Passion' comes back in force with 'Beautiful Warrior' and shows that the name of the group is absolutely not usurped and corresponds completely to the state of mind that drives the entire group. Let it be said: the “wave of passion” is back! Let's hope this time that they continue their journey together for many more years... | |
