I follow the French from 'Blackrain' and their direct and effective hard rock since the album 'Released' dating from 2016 and, since then, two other studio recordings have followed with 'Dying Breed' in 2019 and 'Untamed' in 2022. 2024 sees the release of 'Hot Rock Time Machine' which is not an opus of new compositions but an anthology of titles from the albums 'Lethal Dose of...' from 2011 and 'It Begins' from 2013. Good idea to them because these two albums were never released on streaming platforms this which will allow a large number of people, including myself, to be able to put old titles between their ears as if they were new ones and for fans, to find certain compositions played in concert.

And off we go for one hell of an 'Overloaded' which is part of most of their set lists with a chorus to sing along to until the voices die out (see the video above), then, the mid-tempo 'Baby Shot Me Down' follows suit with an addictive new chorus and a remarkable guitar solo in the second part. If you triggered the headbanging machine on these first two tracks, you should without a doubt subscribe to this entire album which features hard rock blasts of formidable effectiveness: To name just a few, the rhythmic 'Wild Wild Wild' would certainly have been a hit in a 'Def Leppard' album in the 80s, 'Young Blood' with its unifying choruses is still a model of the genre, the mid-tempo 'Shining Down on You' is not to be outdone and offers a new catchy melody which immediately gets into your head and 'Dead Boy' concludes the album with a final strong hard rock hit. We can also note that the ballad 'Nobody but You' allows you to take a well-deserved break in the middle of all these energetic compositions (see the video here) and 'Revolution' adds a very pleasant slight country/rock side.

In summary, the French of 'Blackrain' continue their journey this time with old compositions which take us back to the best of this timeless hard rock which had its prosperous period in the 80s and 'Hot Rock Time Machine' should undoubtedly go on repeat for all those who are fans of this energetic and authentic style with unifying choruses that we want to sing along to and which are grafted directly into the head...
