'SheWolf' is a new band of symphonic metal which is led by Greek singer 'Angel Wolf Black' accompanied by instrumentalists with strange names, 'the hunter' on guitar, 'the predator' on bass and 'the alpha' on drums released the band's self-titled debut album. The theme deployed is just as unusual because we are taken by a shaman to a gathering of wolves who must renew their vows (see presentation of the album on the Frontiers Music label here. Produced by singer 'Michele Guaitoli' who officiates in several bands including 'Visions Of Atlantis' (who will release their next album in May 2022) and 'Temperance' and ' Marco Pastorino', also the singer and also guitarist of 'Temperance', we are therefore inevitably attracted by this new combo.
From the start, we are greeted by 'The One You Feed' (see the video above) which mixes fairly classic symphonic metal and folk with a very catchy first melody which can recall a formation like 'Imperia' or 'Coronatus', then, 'Welcome To The Pack', introduced by sampled orchestral arrangements, also shows a beautiful energy with a chorus that immediately hits your head. The double pedal is used in the introduction of the following title 'Lone Wolf' (see the video here) which offers a new catchy melody, and we find folk sounds with some accompaniments of flute. With 'Home' (see the video here), we continue with a new hit in a more measured atmosphere and 'Angel Wolf-Black' shows all its talent, alternating softness and vocal power, then 'Moonbound' continues in powerful symphonic metal on a new catchy tempo and we are won over by a new memorable chorus close to the atmospheres of 'Visions Of Atlantis'. Make way for two quieter compositions with, first of all, a lively 'Safe in the Dark' which shows a less metal face with beautiful alternations of intensities then, 'Nothing is Forever' is to be added to the best ballads of symphonic metal and can recall those of 'Evanescence'. The end of the album takes us back to catchy symphonic metal with 'My Prayer' which has a catchy new melody and which should work well in concert, 'The Thrill of the Chase' which has nothing to envy to its predecessor with its chorus still recalling the ardor of those of 'Visions of Atlantis' and that we all want to take back in heart and finally 'Fallen Without You' ends this remarkable album on a mid-tempo with beautiful vocal arrangements. Note the cover at the end of the album of 'Lone Wolf' in orchestral version.
In summary, this new project 'SheWolf' already shows an impressive maturity with a series of catchy hits at the level of symphonic metal tenors, and which should, without a doubt, appeal to a large audience who love the bands mentioned in this chronic to which we can add names like 'Beyond The Black', ' Edenbridge', 'Anette Olzon' or 'Last Days Of Eden'... | |
