'Ginevra' is yet another great group set up by 'Frontiers Music' and created by Swedish singer and keyboardist 'Kristian Fhyr' who officiates in the formation 'Seventh Crystal'. The rest of the line-up consists of guitarist 'Magnus Karlsson' who participates in many projects (in the latest releases, 'Allen/Olzon', 'The Ferrymen' or his collaboration with 'Anette Olzon'), bassist 'Jimmy Jay' ('H.E.A.T') and drummer 'Magnus Ulfstedt' ('Eclipse', 'Nordic Union', 'Ammunition'), 'Alessandro Del Vecchio' coming to lend a hand on the keyboards and who produced, recorded and mixed the whole thing and 'Chez Kane' making an appearance on the track 'Masquarade'. As you can imagine, given the pedigree of each artist, we are embarked on melodic hard rock with a highlighting of saturated guitar riffs which lead the dance, most of the compositions being energetic and giving off an imposing power.
From the first title 'Siren's Call' (see the video above), the siren's call is not strictly speaking bewitching and delivers a well-soaked first hard rock rush which is followed, in the same style, by its little brother 'Unbreakable' (see video here) with a catchy chorus, then, 'Apologize' (see the video here) continues in this melodic hard with a rhythmic base that releases a beautiful energy, the song of 'Kristian Fhyr ' being completely in tune with this catchy style. In the same style, we can also mention the rhythmic 'Break the Silence' with a 'Magnus Karlsson' which illuminates this title with mad guitar solos, the rapid 'Brokenhearted' and 'Falling to Pieces' and their refrain declaimed at a hundred to the hour, 'We Belong to the Stars' and its headbanging tempo, 'I'll Be Around' and its addictive choirs or even 'The Fight' and its devastating guitar riffs. And in the midst of all this burst of energy, the ballad breaks are not forgotten with the magnificent 'Masquerade' with a very moving vocal duet 'Chez Kane'/'Kristian Fhyr' and the last title 'My Rock'n'Roll ' with its chorus that we find ourselves humming or whistling when the song is finished.
In summary, even if this new melodic hard rock project is not going to change much in the world of music, we are always happy to put this melodic style between our ears which feels good, especially more than the interpretation is made by talented artists whether at the vocal level with an imperial 'Kristian Fhyr' and also at the instrumental level with a 'Magnus Karlsson' who delivers riffs and enjoyable guitar solos, without forgetting the rhythm section which offers a solid and energetic base to the whole... | |
