Listening to the first title 'Awake' of the second album 'Paradox' of the Germans of ‘Aeneas', I found that they had a style that can be found in the Swedishs of 'Jono' (see their latest album here) and they define themselves as doing epic rock, which is also the label we could stick to 'Jono'. Indeed, the first 4 tracks, in a standard format between 3 and 5 minutes, are powerful and energetic and captive from the first listening with beautiful melodic lines supported by keyboards that maintain the symphonic side as in 'Unleshed' which is perfect example of a magnificent alchemy between a powerful and symphonic rock. With 'Brother', they offer us a break with a nice acoustic ballad, then 'Gravity' brings us back to the epic and symphonic rock of the beginning but, without a doubt, it’s the last title 'The Aeneid', of more than 18 minutes, which is the cornerstone of this album by offering us a composition worthy of the greatest progressive rock bands where we are embarked on a patchwork of moods and beautiful alternations between powerful and quiet parts and where it always happens something until the grand finale that can recall the atmosphere of 'The Astonishing' of 'Dream Theater' (see here). In summary, even if the Germans of Aeneas' do not make the buzz on the web, this album is for me one of the very beautiful surprises of the end of the 2018 year and if you are fans of rock mixing symphonic and progressive, I can only advise you to listen to 'Paradox'...
