'Delusion Squared' is a French band that releases its 4th studio album with 'Anthropocene' whose theme is related to the search for solutions to adapt to the very important changes of our present and future times. As far as the style is concerned, the band evolves in an atmospheric and melodic progressive rock with influences from the great formations of this 70's style, with obviously the ‘Floyds’ in first. This last album also sees a change of line up because 'Lorraine Young' who was the singer of the band is not there any more and it is thus 'Steven Francis' who takes the place and his voice integrates perfectly in the style of this opus. 11 tracks between 5 and 7 minutes for more than an hour of music in total, this is the program and from the outset, with 'Devolution', it is an atmospheric composition that hangs from the first listening through a construction that slowly unfolds its aerian melody. Follows 'An Ominous Way Down' splendid semi-acoustic title that continues in this cozy atmosphere and the next song 'Necessery Evil' reminds me of the sweetness of certain titles of 'Barclay James Harvest'. The following is in the image of these first 3 titles, a succession of beautiful melodies that allow you to escape in a delicate and calm universe as in 'To This Day', 'The Promised Land' or 'The Great Leap' with small incursions in more energetic and electric titles but just as much melodic like 'Walls and Protection', 'Under Control' or 'Original Sin' and all this ends in a very refined isntrumental composition that magnificently closes the album. In short, as you will understand, the French 'Delusion Squared' release an album filled with beautiful compositions that should appeal to all those who are fans of progressive atmospheric pop/rock and for me, this 'Anthropocene' comes add to the ideal collection in this style of music...
