'Finally George' (his real name 'Georg Hahn') is a German sound engineer who has set up a project of which he is the composer, producer and performer. I quote, "I have always been inspired by progressive bands such as Genesis, Blackfield and Supertramp. Unlike them, however, I focus more on emotions". And indeed, its influences are many and range from the pop of the 70s where we could cite groups like the 'Beatles' or 'Barclay James Harvest' to more recent neo-progressive formations like 'Blackfield' or 'RPWL’. The atmosphere is overall quite affecting with slow tempos where beautiful catchy and inspired melodies, sublimated by an irreproachable production, slowly unfold their history. All titles deserve to be described but for short, I will talk about two central titles, first of all the melancholic 'Remember Me' that can recall certain moods of 'RPWL' and the ballad 'I'll Be there' which mixes pop influences of the seventies and the progressive with its final solo 'Gilmourien' simple but giving off a real émtion. In summary, 'Finally George' was right to pass on the other side of the window of the studio to offer us a sumptuous 'Life Is a Killer' which is a real achievement is that should appeal to all who love a subtle mixture between pop and progressive rock...
