'Absentia', Spanish group is not a group to speak easy to describe. They just released their first album 'Black & White'. I wouldn't give them a style: after a first part very gradual, the first title rout with a catchy part which could suggest to a generic TV then the rhythm is suddenly broken with a sung part. The theme of the second title is nothing else than an extract from 'Swan Lake' to 'Tchaikovsky' with a rise to power very rock then a very epic quieter end. 'Wind Of Sorrow', which begins with a mysterious atmosphere then a refrain that fit you in the head before engaging on the topic of 'Dies Irae' of the requiem of Mozart (If Yes, you read that right) and finally back to the theme of departure and all in 6 minutes. We could take each title one after the other to describe an atmosphere or a different style from the rest. But this mix is always done very nice without never shocking way and frankly, we never get bored. In summary, a tour de force to gather as much of styles and atmospheres on a single Patty and one of my favorites 2016; necessarily intended for lovers of multi-faceted artists because we're far away from the uniformity of some...
