Another old band that comes back as a reminder with 'Riverdogs' which returns after a few years with a 4th album 'California' and an original line-up. Given the past of each member ('Vivian Campbell' made the good days of 'Def Leppard'), we could have expected hard-rock but apart from 1 or 2 energetic titles, this revolves around an entertaining rock with a few incursions into hard rock. The first track 'American Dream' sets the tone with good energy but closer to AOR. With 'Something Inside', we're closer to blues and 'Golden Glow' has a pop side. The following is similar of this beginning, a mixture of styles making ‘California’ a diversified opus. In summary, 'Riverdogs', certainly are not there where they were expected but this 'California' has very good assets to please a relatively wide audience and fans of the rock and hard rock bands of the 80s...
