'Gentle Knife' is a 11-member Norwegian band that released their 2nd album 'Clock Unwood', a concept album on the passing time. Given the instrumental richness (in addition to the classical electric instruments, they add flute, wood, trumpet and saxophone), their style is rich and close to a progressive sophisticated with relatively long titles with multiple drawers. After an introduction mixing piano and trumpet in a soft and contemporary melody, the eponymous title of nearly 16 minutes debuts with guitar riffs in a swinging rhythmic and we are immersed in typical progressive rock with multiple rebonds suggesting 'Marillion’ and sometimes ‘Jethro Tull’ . The continuation is close to the beginning, musically high-level titles oscillating between 7 and 10 minutes. In summary, this 'Clock Unwood' is intended for lovers of progressive rock loving long developments requiring several listenings to appreciate them at their true value...
