As we used to read on the edge of a SNCF level crossing, the famous slogan 'One train can hide another' applies perfectly to the Englishmen of 'Thunder' because, for those who had bought the deluxe version of 'All The Right Noises', there was a second CD with 4 other compositions that couldn't fit in the first one but also 8 songs from the first CD live. This 'Bonus Songs' opus is now available on download platforms and the least we can say is that the extra tracks are no match for the others and take us back to that catchy and effective 70's hard rock, starting with an energetic 'Firebird' that gives you a blast and could be a cross between 'Led Zeppelin' and 'Deep Purple'. With 'Hero', which follows, the atmosphere is subdued for a magnificent mid-tempo with a heady chorus, then, back to an addictive rhythm with 'The Fires That Roar' which automatically starts the headbanging machine and finally, with 'Pariah', it's a composition that would have been a perfect addition to a Led Zeppelin album. As for the live part, the tracks are quite faithful to the originals and immerse us for a moment in these timeless compositions in an even more lively atmosphere. In short, we can only thank the English of 'Thunder' for having made this second CD available, which continues the listening pleasure we had when 'All The Right Noises' was released... | |
