They returned to the forefront of the melodic rock scene in 2022 with the very good 'Once' and 'Fatal Vision' is doing it again a year later with 'Twice', showing that you can have an immense talent for laying down memorable melodies but not having too much imagination for the titles of the albums (we already know the name of the next one!). Indeed, the Canadians have not done things by halves by concocting 13 little melodic gems that will certainly go on a loop for all lovers of this style, taking us back to the best of the 80s. luxury, we find the cream of melodic rock with names like 'Alessandro Del Vecchio', 'Harry Hess', 'Paul Laine', 'Marc LaFrance', 'JK Northrup' and 'Jeff Scott Soto'.

There is something for everyone with, first of all, catchy hymns and the start of the album is particularly effective in this area with 'Dominoes' and its radiant choirs, 'In My Fantasy' (see the video above) and its chorus to be repeated in chorus and 'Thick as Thieves' and its mid-tempo giving an irresistible desire to clap your hands in time. In this style, we can add 'In The Middle Of The Night' and 'Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer' with their melody that puts you in shape for a whole day, but also 'Start Again' which would have made a hit in the 80s, 'Ghosts Of Yesterday' and its melancholy carefree melodies from another era or even 'Welcome To My Nightmare' (see the video here) with an addictive new chorus. And when the lights dim, we are spoiled with very sweet ballads which are four in number with 'End Of The Dream' and 'Time Has Left Us As Strangers' on which the singer 'Christine Corless' was invited and adds a beautiful feminine sensitivity to which we can add 'The Last Summer Night' (see the video here) and 'Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer' which ends this opus in a beautiful way.

In summary, this second album by the Canadians of 'Fatal Vision' would certainly be a reference album of melodic rock if it had been released in the 80s because 'Twice' contains all the ingredients that one wishes to find in this style of music, an immediate hook, melodies that we hum in the head and a diversity between catchy compositions and well-balanced ballads: well done madam and gentlemen and thank you for this very beautiful album which will certainly play on a loop with a lot of melodic rock fans...
