'Chris Bay' is none other than the founder and lead guitarist of the power metal band 'Freedom Call' but this first solo album is not really a remake of his main band because this 'Chasing the Sun' is quite far from the latest record 'Master of Light' (see Here). The only common point is at the level of melodies that are memorable in both cases but we could qualify the style of a meeting between the 'Buggles' (you know this group who released 'Video Killed The Star Radio' at the end 70s) and the 'Rubettes' also officiating at the same time. So, we embark for 40 minutes of catchy melodies where keyboards and choirs are ominpresent such as 'Flying Hearts', 'Radio Starlight', 'Move On' or 'Light My Fire' which reminds me of the friendly atmosphere side of 'Status Quo' in 'Twenty Wild Horses'. He does not forget the mandatory ballads with 'Where Waters Flow in Heaven' or 'Love Will Never Die'. In short, even if we are far from the power metal, this first solo album has the merit of showing us another facet of 'Chris Bay' that certainly will not please all these fans but is likely to touch more people because 'Chasing the Sun' is primarily intended for the general public...
