The Germans of 'Primal Fear' release their 13th album 'Metal Commando' and continue to deliver us a direct and efficient power metal that goes to the essential and it is not with this new opus that we can say the opposite because, at least for the first 10 tracks, metal lovers, don't expect an overflowing originality but rather to have a good time listening to all these tracks which should make you stomp your foot or move your head to the rhythm of the section rhythm of 'Michael Ehré'. Nevertheless, the Germans have a big surprise in store for us with the last title, we'll talk about it again.

Right off the bat, with 'I Am Alive', we go to the heart of the subject with a powerful and direct title, then, 'Along Came the Devil' continue in this way with aggressive guitar riffs and 'Halo' is not in outdone with a frenzied rhythm in which the double pedal is at the party. With the mid-tempo 'Hear Me Calling', this track is cut out for the stage with 'Ralf Scheepers' which is very good in these slower atmospheres, then we start again with 'The Lost & The Forgotten' and its rhythmic to make a whole audience headbang, and, as for 'My Name Is Fear', we continue in this dynamic with a huge sound. 'I Will Be Gone' arrives at the right time to regain its health with the break ballad which is more entirely acoustic, then 'Raise Your Fists' and 'Howl Of The Banshee' continue in this all traced path of the beginning of the album with two powerful and direct titles, the furious 'Afterlife' which follows not being outdone. But, it is then that after all this debauchery of energy, the last track 'Infinity' points the tip of its nose with its thirteen minutes, duration that we would see more in a progressive metal album but the Germans have already composed this kind of title (see ’We Walk Without Fear’). We are therefore embarked on an epic saga which begins calmly and which takes off after two minutes with the same heady melody and which has remarkable instrumental parts that we are not used to having in the more direct titles of the Germans and which has a magnificent finale with a crescendo which begins with church choirs and which gradually increases in power to end with a melody which remains inked in your head, which makes for me the good surprise of 'Metal Commando'.

In summary, this new album from the Germans of 'Primal Fear' continues in the tradition of the previous opus and also offers us an icing on the cake with 'Infinity' leaving the beaten track which destines 'Metal Commando', first of all to the fans of the group but who can reach an audience loving direct and efficient metal...
