'Baris Dai' is a Dutch musician trying to get his music out there and has released two EPs which I've compiled into a spotify playlist above. Part 1 of 'Ambiant Conditions' was released in March 2021 and Part 2 in December 2022, forming a set of about thirty minutes. Entirely instrumental, his compositions are influenced by several decades of progressive, and he takes us on a beautiful musical journey in which he mixes different styles ranging from atmospheric to metal. Each EP includes three titles that follow one another and the first 'The Days Get Longer After All' is a good summary of the atmospheres deployed with an introduction that makes me think of the atmospheres of 'Mark Knopfler' in his film music and which takes scale gradually to become energetic with the arrival of saturated guitar riffs on catchy melodic lines which fall on the end with some guitar notes. Without transition, the atmosphere is more peaceful in the introduction of 'And A New Cycle Begins' (see the video above with very beautiful landscapes), then, alternate different intensities and rhythms with a beautiful break in the second part of the title before ending on a new crescendo in which 'Baris Dai' offers us a very beautiful guitar solo. We continue on 'Then Warmth Of Scarce Sunlight' (see the video here) which again puts the guitar in all its forms, all of first with some delicious arpeggios, then with a rise in power and a new magnificent solo supported by saturated riffs, the title ending as it had started in a very clean way. The second EP is in the same style as the first and, 'Baris Dai' has concocted three other compositions for us with 'When Nature Wakes Up' which, this time, begins in a light and bucolic atmosphere which then grows and which offers a new guitar solo which draws a pleasant melody, then, 'Vivid Green and Birds Singing' is more energetic with a beautiful central break, and the album ends with 'The Rebirth Is Complete' which offers us a last instrumental with , once again, an opposition between ambient parts and other more muscular ones, the guitar adding each time the little extra to captivate the listener.
In summary, these two short EPs of 'Baris Dai' show all the talent of the Dutchman as a composer, and if you are a fan of instrumentals highlighting the electric guitar in all its forms, you should definitely join to 'Ambient Conditions'... | |
