'Tim Bowness' who is also known for his duet with 'Steven Wilson' with the project 'No-Man', continues to release solo albums, and after 'Flowers At The Scene' in 2019, it's the turn of 'Late Night Laments' to see the light of day in 2020. If you liked the atmospheric and airy side of certain compositions from the last opus, you should still adhere to this latest baby of the Englishman who offers us 9 titles (plus 5 other compositions in the deluxe version) in a soft and intimate atmosphere conducive to relax after a hard day's work. If we put aside the relatively dark theme described in this opus, relating to all the excesses of Humanity, everything is done to have a good time, starting with 'Northern Rain' which sets the tone for the album, in a slow tempo conducive to the wandering of our mind which remains the constant throughout the album, all this being reinforced by the soft voice of Tim which rocks us throughout the opus and which, thanks to a set of prestigious guests, embellishes the ensemble with soft and refined arrangements brought for example by the two ex-members of 'Porcupine Tree', the bassist 'Colin Edwin' and the keyboardist 'Richard Barbieri' but also by the delicate sounds of the vibraphone of 'Tom Atherton' or the accompaniments of keyboardist 'Brian Hulse'. Some will certainly find this album a little too linear but it is clear that variety is not the objective of this opus and that it should be taken as a sort of playlist of relaxing music, a bit like one can find in ready-made lists of streaming sites.

In summary, 'Tim Bowness' offers us with his latest album a moment of calm and serenity to quietly enjoy with headphones on the ears in the evening before falling asleep by letting go and thus disconnecting from all the concerns of our daily life...
