With the Americans of 'Bent Knee', we enter a world apart that is difficult to describe as they still offer us a new album 'Land Animal' outside of any musical classical landmark. First of all, as is often the case for this kind of artists, the first listens reveal only partially the richness of this opus and it requires to imbibe it to be able to tame it completely. From the beginning, with 'Terror Bird', the voice of 'Courtney Swain' is connected to this atmosphere that brings an unexpected side with her register which is out of the ordinary but which is very appropriate to these shifted melodies and rhythm and intensity breaks throughout the title. The compositions could be described as contemporary because their constructions often come out of classical patterns by mixing styles to create each time something original. In short, with 'Land Animal', 'Bent Knee' turn a corner that propel them forward of a renewing progressive scene but that will probably remain limited to an advised public...
