Still a young man who is doing wonderfully, I named singer 'Joe Lynn Turner' who, at 71, has toured with quite a few bands including 'Rainbow' and 'Deep Purple' and is releasing a new solo album 'Belly Of The Beast', his last studio recording under his own name, 'Second Hand Life' dating back to 2007. In fact, when I say "solo", the two names of 'Joe Lynn Turner' and 'Peter Tägtgren' ('Hypocrisy', 'Pain') could appear on the cover because, we feel the work of the Swede on the whole of this cake which, contrary to what we are entitled to expect from 'Joe Lynn Turner', from classic hard rock bringing us back to the 70s, is a kind of judicious mix between hard rock roots and much more modern sounds brought by the more extreme influences of 'Peter Tägtgren', showing that the bugger, to say the least, still has very nice leftovers. We therefore embark on a sort of melting pot merging the influences of the two protagonists with, first of all, explosive titles à la 'Pain', such as the eponymous title (see the video above), 'Rise Up', 'Tears OF Blood', 'Don't Fear The Dark' or even 'Fallen World'. Other compositions come to be inserted in mid-tempo rhythms, in a more classic hard rock, on which 'Joe Lynn Turner' also shows all his talent with the magnificent 'Black Sun', 'Tortured Soul' (see the video here), 'Desire', without forgetting the melodic jewel 'Living The Dream', more lively but still very classic from the 70s/80s. And for those over fifty, the American has not forgotten to place two beautiful ballads to rest after all the energy deployed, with, first of all, 'Dark Night Of The Soul' in the middle of the album and finally 'Requiem' which, as its name suggests, is necessarily darker but which is a real melodic gem, with magnificent choirs.

In summary, in the series of albums "it's in the old pots that we make the best soups", this new album by 'Joe Lynn Turner', 'Belly Of The Beast' comes directly from add to it and, icing on the cake, the contribution of the Swede 'Peter Tägtgren' made it possible to bring greater modernity and a heavier sound, forcing the American to adapt his singing by showing us that he is still an essential reference in hard rock...
