In the family of formations that take us back to the 80s, here are the Danes of 'Meridian' who, after three studio recordings since 2013, the latest being 'Margin of Error' of 2019, released a new album 'The Fourth Dimension'. This latest baby is a continuation of their previous productions and they continue to distill unstoppable melodies that have a little air of already heard with saturated guitars and a powerful sound that classifies them in the metal box but all 10 compositions presents a beautiful variety with a sort of melting pot of influences ranging from 'Scorpions' to 'Whitesnake' via 'Pretty Maids', 'WASP', 'Accept' or even 'Bon Jovi'.
And yet, the introduction of 'Warning Shots', with a few fairly quiet guitar riffs, does not in any way bode well for the future, but after a few seconds, the machine gets carried away and we embark on a fast rhythm with a simple but super effective first melody. Follows 'Life Is Today' which slightly moderates the ardour and which flirts with good catchy hard rock and if you have adhered to these first two titles, chances are that you will like the sequel with accessible melodic lines supported by guitars incisive as in 'Stay' (see the video above), 'The Road Back To Hell', 'Remove Your Crown' or even the title song which closes the album with a tempo printed by guitars to make everyone headbang audience. But the Danes also offer us melodic jewels in a more AOR style in the middle of the album, with the magnificent 'Follow Your Heart', 'Trust' and its swaying rhythm and the catchy 'Dreamers' (see video here) and 'Say What You Want Me' .
In short, the Danes of 'Meridian' continue their merry way by rewarding us with a brand-new album filled with accessible compositions that take us back a few decades and 'The Fourth Dimension' is intended for all those and those who navigate between hard rock and melodic metal and who like the major bands of this style that emerged in the 80s... | |
