'Eleine' is a Swedish band that already exists for seven years, and after a first LP in 2015 under the band's name, they released few months ago a second studio album 'Until the End'. Although they are tagged in gothic metal, a first listening shows a symphonic side very present on the majority of the compositions and the growls of ‘Rikard Ekberg’ bring an accompaniment to the beautiful voice of Madeleine as in 'Sanity'. But most of the songs feature extremely elaborate orchestral and vocal arrangements that can make you think of a mix between 'Within Temptation' and 'Epica' as in 'Story Untold', 'Until the End' or 'From the Grave'. And, as often in this style, the ballad is not forgotten with 'Please' which can recall 'Amy Lee' and some titles of ‘Evanescence'. In summary, this 2nd album of the Swedes of ‘Eleine', even if they take a way already drawn by the main groups of the genre, is a good surprise 2018 and 'Until the End' should please all lovers of symphonic metal with a female singer... | |
