'Derdian' is an Italian power metal band whose first studio album dates from 2005 and has just released its 7th studio album 'DNA'. Generally, the band of 'Enrico Pistolese' doesn’t do things by halfand and offers us melodic and symphonic hymns in a furious rhythm like bands like 'Rhapsody of Fire' where the rhythm section is unleashed from the beginning to the end. After a classic and short instrumental close to the 'Richard Clayderman' French, let’s go with a vitamin 'DNA' that picks up the melody of the intro and is quite similar to what they've done in the past. The following title 'False Flag Operation' is already much more varied with changes of tempo and oriental influences then with 'Never Born', we return in an epic style with a magnificent exchange between the guitar of Enrico and the keyboards of Marco. Follows, 'Hail To The Masters' which with its marked tempo, makes it a title that should be sung in concert by the entire audience and reminds me of the atmosphere of 'Farewell' from ‘Avantasia' but more rhythmic. Incondestably, it is after 'Red and White' that the band releases the most successful titles with a magnificent 'Elohim' in an improbable mix of power metal and jazz very successful, then 'Fire From The Dust' is then a theatrical and catchy title with ubiquitous choirs, and finally 'Nothing Will Remain' (sung again in Italian at the end of the album), 'Destiny Never Awaits' and 'Part Of The World' offer an effective mix between classical music and power metal . In summary, even if they do not bring real news, the Italians of 'Derdian' continue their way with a power metal they master on the fingertips, and it is not with this latest album 'DNA' that we’ll can say the opposite... | |
