After the restful break of 'Saro Cosentino' put on line yesterday, I'm taking you to Denmark with melodic heavy metal band 'Statement' on their 4th studio recording, latest album 'Force of Life' being released in 2019. For this new opus, I first entered it backwards, the creepy cover reminded me rather reminiscent of a death metal album, a style that I don't particularly like, and then, title after title, I very quickly revised my first position and, by dint of headbanging on powerful and addictive melodies, and after the very good final ballad 'Fade Away' (see the video above), I hastened to press the button 'repeat again'. This 'Dreams From The Darkest Side' is a series of compositions that will get you in shape for a whole day, starting with an explosive 'Don't You Hide It' with everything you want to find in good heavy metal with a production with small onions, incisive guitar riffs with 'Niels Alex Larsen' and 'Lars Ulrik Le Fevre', a rhythm section that brings an extraordinary dynamic with bassist 'Martin Poulsen' and drummer 'Daniel Nielsen' on drums, and finally, the singer 'Jannick Brochdorf' who, as they say, wets his shirt and brings all the vocal power necessary for all this debauchery of energy. Whether it's the powerful compositions and taken on a hellish tempo like 'Don't You Hide It', 'Sacrifice' (with its original central break), 'Here I Am', 'Escaped' or even 'Indestructible' (see video here), or the catchy tracks with memorable melodies like 'Dreams From The Darkest Side' (see video here), 'Lifeline' or 'Beyond Control', without forgetting the heavy mid-tempo 'The Reaper' (see video here) that will knock your head off from headbanging, everything is done to have a good time. intense listening. In short, to quote an old French ad for a certain cereal bar, "this latest album from the Danes of 'Statement' is dynamite on the bar" and, if you are a fan of melodic metal soaked, there's a good chance you'll be playing this 'Dreams From The Darkest Side' on repeat...
