Not knowing the story of 'Robert Berry', listening to this album, I thought that the trio 'Emerson, Lake & Palmer' was again among us for the best so much we found this special atmosphere of this legendary band. But the reality is quite different because the story of this album is not banal because it begins in 1987, year in which the multi-instrumentist ‘Robert Berry’ meets 'Keith Emerson' to release the album 'To The Power of Three' under the project name '3'. A second album was to follow but it will never come out and it's more than 25 years after Robert recontact Keith to propose a new project. We know the sequel, the suicide of Keith in 2016 but, nevertheless, Robert continues his project to record all the parts already worked between the 2 artists including the keyboards by resurrecting on a very beautifully way the sound so characteristic of Keith but also ensures the vocal section in total harmony with the ‘ELP’ atmosphere. The result is quite surprising and takes us a few decades back with inevitably a bit of nostalgia listening to all these titles that could all have been part of ‘ELP's discography. In summary, we can thank 'Robert Berry' to have gone to the end of his project with this magnificent 'The Rules Have Changed' which is a very nice tribute to the wonderful artist that was 'Keith Emerson'... | |
