After the very good 'Trancevoicer' from 2021, the Russian and multi-instrumentalist 'Egor Lappo' is doing it again just a year later with a new baby 'Naturealism' which continues in the momentum of the previous album with a cleverly balanced mix between lively rock and progressive metal, which offers a great variety and which allows, thanks to catchy melodic lines, to make all the compositions very accessible from the first listen.
The short instrumental 'Unreal' which begins the album shows a muscular face with saturated guitar riffs specific to progressive metal then, 'Invisible Walls' unfolds a first melody that we immediately appropriate and the variations of intensity and tempo bring this progressive touch to the whole. The following composition 'Forgone Future' also shows a very accessible face and the interweaving of radiant keyboards and saturated guitars further reinforces this feeling of imposing power, then, we find this atmosphere on the following title 'Lack of Gravity' with guitars even more muscular. Follows 'Starlight' which takes us on board the time machine with luminous rock à la 'Alan Parsons Project', then, the instrumental 'Star Station' serves as an introduction to 'Dawn Tracer' which adds a melodic gem with keyboard sounds which can recall the 'space music' of the end of the 70s but which also combines accessible pop/rock. The end of the album continues in the same style with 'Crepuscular' which highlights a powerful sound supported by an imposing bass, then, without transition, 'The Cradle of Space Exploration' deploys a slow and heavy tempo with beautiful breaks of intensities thus avoiding an overly linear title and, the eponymous song concludes with a good summary of this mixture of rock and progressive metal which alternates different soundscapes and which offers us catchy melodic lines.
In summary, this new album by Egor Lappo' is in line with its predecessor and could be a good way to introduce a progressive metal accessible to the greatest number because everything is implemented for immediate listening... | |
