What I like are these big gaps between different styles of music and, after the progressive metal of the Americans from 'Queensrÿche', it's the turn of the Italian 'Saro Cosentino' to release a new album which is in a way the continuation of his album 'Ones and Zeros' originally released in 1997 and reissued with an additional title (see here). So, we find three of the artists who accompanied him on 'Ones and Zeros' with 'Time Bownes' , 'Peter Hammill' and 'Karen Eden'. The delicate and refined atmospheres highlight magnificent vocal and instrumental arrangements and, of the eight compositions, seven are sung and we let ourselves be carried away by a soothing melancholy starting with 'You're The Story', sung by 'Tim Bowness', which makes us go directly warm on a small cloud. The other titles continue this relaxing journey with, first of all, the four compositions sung by 'Peter Hamill' which shows all the vocal talent of the founder of 'Van der Graaf Generator' in these ethereal atmospheres and then, with 'Karen Eden' which brings a beautiful feminine sensibility with her moving vocals on the two very beautiful titles 'Pray' and the melodic jewel 'US (Scars on Skin)'. The eighth track, entirely instrumental, is slightly more energetic with some more heavy guitar riffs but does not differ from the rest of the album, the muted brass adding a feeling of fullness to the whole. In short, this latest album by 'Saro Cosentino' is to be enjoyed quietly with headphones on to evacuate the stress of a good day's work and should appeal to all those who like calm and refined atmospheres with performers passing beautiful feelings...
