England's 'Wishbone Ash' gave us the magnificent 'Coat of Arms' album in 2020 and, 2021 sees the release, this time of a two-and-a-half hour live set played in the US in 2018 and in Japan in 2019, the band's fiftieth anniversary year. So we happily go through their impressive discography starting with the band's first self-titled album from 1970, well-represented with 'Blind Eye', 'Errors On My Way' and especially a phenomenal nearly 20-minute 'Phoenix', to their last studio album of the time which was 'Blue Horizon' credited with a single track, 'Way Down South'. So there's that complicity in guitar playing initiated by the original 'Andy Powell'/'Ted Turner' duo and subsequently between 'Andy Powell' and 'Laurie Wisefield', with Andy's latest playing partner being 'Mark Abrahams'. The track listing below tells you which original album they are from and the year they were released. In short, for all those who have known the whole of the English career and for the younger ones who would like to discover them, this album is a remarkable summary of their long career and embarks us in their very varied universe, which is a subtle mix of pop, rock and hard-rock but which also shows that they were part of the bands that contributed to the rise of progressive music in the early 70s...
