'The Georgia Thunderbolts' are a southern rock band from Georgia who have just released their second studio recording after making headlines in 2021 with their debut album 'Can We Get A Witness'. No need for a long column to tell you that these five guys offer us 13 hard-hitting compositions that smell of this direct and effective rock that was born in the 60s in the South of the United States in the style of 'Blackberry Smoke', 'Robert Jon & The Wreck' or 'Whiskey Myers' to name only the bands I've reviewed in recent years. To avoid going from title to title, I'm going to present the tracks that have been the subject of a single since the end of 2023: first of all, the opening track of this album 'Gonna Shine' is released a year ago and presented this typical side of this timeless American rock, then, the eponymous title of the album, 'Rise Above It All', powerful mid-tempo with this very bluesy groove, followed it at the beginning of 2024, then it was the turn of 'Stand Up' with its 'Ledzep' rhythm and remarkable guitar solo to see the light of day in April 2024. To return to a little more tranquility, the magnificent ballad 'Crawling My Way Back To You' arrived in June 2024 followed by 'Wait' un peu après la sortie of the album, a second ballad with unifying melodic lines representing this style of American rock well. To these two ballads, we can add the rhythmic 'It Ain't Easy' which, with its slide guitars, propel us straight to the south of the United States and, if, on the contrary, you want good energetic and super effective rock, turn up the volume and put between your ears 'She's Gonna Get It' or 'Whiskey Talkin'' or even 'Pricetag'.

In summary, the Americans of 'The Georgia Thunderbolts' remain faithful to their roots with this second album 'Rise Above It All' which distills us southern rock of formidable efficiency and which takes us back a few decades by perpetuating this timeless style which was born in the 60s on the other side of the Atlantic...
