After 'Symphony for a Hopeless God' released in 2015, 'As Time Turns to Dust' is the 4th album of the French of 'Whyzdom'. Like its predecessor, the symphonic style with a large reinforcement of choruses programmed by 'Vynce Leff' accompany the excellent 'Marie Rouyer' which takes all her dimension on this last opus. In the beginning, with 'Armor of Dust', a majestic orchestral introduction filled with choruses precedes a powerful composition where the arrangements appear even more sought after than before. And to hammer home, the next title 'Armaggedon', makes me even more impressive and the chorus is reminiscent to that of 'Shudder Before The Beautiful' of 'Nightwish'. Follow 'Fly Away' which repeat this story with all that we want to find in symphonic metal : grandiose choirs, powerful parts alternating with other quieter in which the female singer adapts his technique of singing, guitars spilling incisive riffs and a rhythm section that knows how to adjust the good accompaniment. These 3 first titles are so dense that 'The Page' comes at the right moment to recover from our emotions with a composition that begins quietly but which increases in crescendo towards an imposing final. The sequel is the image of the beginning with compositions still as attractive that should all be mentioned and the density of each title requires necessarily several listenings to tame the whole. In summary, as you will have understood, even if this kind of album will probably remain reserved for an informed public, 'As Time Turns to Dust' is to add to the ideal collection of any lover of symphonic metal with female singer and 'Whyzdom' shows us that they are now at the same level as all the tenors of the genre... | |
