After the 2 albums 'Prevail' in 2017 and 2018 (see here and here), the Canadians of 'Kobra And The Lotus' released a new album 'Evolution' in September 2019. Always in a rather direct style, they continue to offer us a powerful and effective metal between melodic and symphonic. Ater a short instrumental introduction often used in symphonic metal, 'Evolution' opens the ball with a first energetic title and 'Burn!' which follows continues in this direct and effective style. With 'We Come Undone', we keep the power of guitar riffs but in a more jerky rhythm that can recall the progressive metal and 'Wounds', more varied, varies the tempos with mid-tempo parts with a nice rhythm section and others more energetic. And if it needed a hit, it's 'Thundersmith' with a chorus that should well welcome in live, then 'Circus' is a mid-tempo with a rhythm marked a bit like 'Joan Jett' with 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'. The ballad break arrives with the melodic 'Wash Away' and 'Kobra Paige' reminds me in this register to 'Marcella Bovio' at the time of 'Stream Of Passion'. The end of the album returns to a powerful metal with 'Liar', then, with 'Get the F*ck Out of Here' we embark for rhythmic fast and catchy and finally, 'In The End' closes the album with a final title energetic with changes of rhythm in a more symphonic style. In summary, the Canadians of 'Kobra And The Lotus' continue in the path of the previous opus with a powerful metal with accessible melodic lines and, therefore, if you like the 2 'Prevail', you will undoubtedly be conquered by 'Evolution'...
