'Fellowship' is a newcomer to the wonderful world of power metal which is now populated by many bands with, for example and to name only albums released in 2022, the 'Powerwolf', 'Signum Regis', 'Trick or Treat', 'Serious Black' or 'Battle Beast', each delivering memorable anthems that come into your head immediately. For all those who are fond of the groups mentioned, you will not be out of place with this first album 'The Saberlight Chronicles', because the English have concocted 12 tracks for us with choruses to be repeated at the top of your voice.
Let's go with a joyful 'Until the Fires Die' (see the video above) in a universe of power fantasy with a first title with an addictive chorus and if you're not tempted to play this first again title in loop, you can stop there because the continuation is with the image of this first devastating title. Indeed, each composition that follows contains an unstoppable melody and has all the ingredients of a festive power metal: a rhythm section that tumbles at high speed with double pedals at every street corner, guitars delivering incisive riffs, a singer who does not spare himself and, in this case, who offers us remarkable vocal performances, and epic orchestral arrangements at will. And as often in this case, the simple melodic lines always give the impression of already knowing them by heart, which means that some will find the album too linear. But, in defense of the English, it is precisely this immediate efficiency that they are looking for to strike us with memorable refrains. And to completely fulfil the specifications inherent in this type of album, the ballad break is not forgotten with 'Silhouette' which deploys a new addictive melody.
In summary, with this first album filled with melodies of formidable efficiency which loop in the head, the English of 'Fellowship' have chosen to privilege the carefree and immediate side of power metal which should quickly raise to the same level as the tenors of the genre... | |
