I introduced you to 'Terra Nova' with their ballad album, 'Terra Nova Ballads' released in 2019 which also saw two best songs albums released ('Highlights' and 'Highlights II' ) for this Dutch melodic hard rock band who had their first period in the 90s and who reunited again in 2005 with 4 new albums, the latest being 'Raise Your Voice' released in 2019. Still led by the two Hendrix brothers, 2022 therefore sees the release from a new album, 'Ring That Bell ' which is in the continuity of the previous albums, and which offers us 13 new compositions for almost an hour of listening. In short, we can say that everything is done to have a great time listening to hits with memorable melodies, starting with the first third of the album with catchy songs such as 'Carpe Diem', 'Crank It Up', 'What's Broken Can Be Mend' and the eponymous composition which offers us radiant choirs bringing us back to the 80s/90s. We find the same energy in 'Touch Down' or 'Bust Your Balls' and the other titles are intended to be more moderate in a classy but equally melodic AOR: witness the playful 'Angel & Demons' or 'Where Do We Go From Here', 'Touch Down' and 'Second Chances' with this Westcoast side bringing us back to the 70s. And finally, as we already knew, the Dutch have no equal to offer us magnificent ballads which are among the of three with 'Home', 'Give Me Shelter' and 'Lightning Rod' and which I added to my playlist of the best rock/hard rock/metal ballads.
In summary, with this latest album, the Dutch show that they have not lost any of the talent that made them famous thirty years ago and 'Ring That Bell' should undoubtedly be well received and run on repeat among all fans of rock and melodic hard-rock bringing us back to the 80s/90s... | |
